MoMoney Museum
Financial Immersive Experience
Overview:

The Museum of MoMoney reimagines financial education as something you don’t study, you experience.

In partnership with Luci, Ravenswood Studio, and Electrosonic, we designed and developed six interactive exhibits that transform complex financial concepts into intuitive, hands-on play. Through real-time systems, physical interaction, and custom technology, the museum turns topics like investing, risk, and value into something immediate, engaging, and unforgettable.

Client:

Museum of Money, Dallas, Tx

Role:

Remote (contract) 2026
Senior Immersive UX/UI Designer
Fivestone Studios for an immersive educational museum

Scope: UX/UI, visual, and spatial design for an immersive educational museum. Designed high-fidelity visual systems, responsive simulation interfaces, and dynamic conversational exhibits to translate abstract data into engaging, tactile physical-to-digital experiences.

The Challenge

Financial literacy in the U.S. is critically low, with fewer than 40% of adults able to answer basic financial questions, despite money shaping nearly every part of daily life. The challenge was to rethink how people engage with financial concepts entirely. Not as information to absorb, but as systems to interact with. The goal: make complex, often intimidating topics accessible, engaging, and impossible to ignore.

The Approach

My team and I designed six distinct experiences, each powered by real-time technology and custom software in order to translate financial concepts into playable environments. Built primarily in Unity and supported by integrated hardware systems, each installation responds dynamically to guest input, turning abstract ideas into tangible outcomes. From motion tracking and projection mapping to AI-driven interaction and full-stack kiosk applications, every experience was engineered to ensure that learning happens by doing and not by explaining.

My Role

As the senior designer on this project, I led the interaction and visual design across all six exhibits, working closely with an incredible cross-functional team. Because immersive spaces have so many moving parts, our process was highly collaborative. We had to constantly bridge the gap between software developers, physical fabricators, and producers to make sure our ideas actually worked in the real world.

Designing Physical-to-Digital UX:

My team and I focused heavily on how physical movements would trigger digital reactions. I mapped out the interaction flows, working with hardware engineers to align touchscreen UI with physical table overlays for Market Shuffle and tailoring arcade interfaces for old-school joysticks in Interest Invaders

Building Scalable Visual Systems:

Working in colaboration with our creative director, I built the visual identity and responsive UI layouts in Figma, keeping the dev team looped in early. We made sure everything scaled perfectly, whether it was a detailed dashboard on a small kiosk or giant text on a massive projection wall.

Frictionless AI Interactions:

For the advanced tech exhibits like Financial Tellers, we worked together to remove the friction of complex tech. I designed the conversational flows and visual feedback states, collaborating with the engineering team to ensure guests knew exactly when the AI was listening or processing.

Unity and Engineering Pipeline:

I partnered directly with the developers to bring my Figma designs into Unity. We spent a lot of time troubleshooting as a team - passing assets back and forth, fixing UI latency, and ensuring the depth-sensing cameras tracked smoothly.

Spatial and Fabrication Alignment:

We worked hand-in-hand with the physical production teams to integrate our screens into the museum architecture. We collaborated closely on sightlines and hardware layouts so the digital and physical elements felt like one cohesive experience.

The Experiences
Market Shuffle

A real-time barter simulation powered by a custom Unity logic engine, where dynamic vendor behavior and escalating trade chains create pressure and complexity. A touchscreen paired with a physical overlay makes negotiation feel tactile, immediate, and competitive.

Hoard of Gold

A full-body interactive environment driven by depth sensing and projection mapping, where guests physically move through and interact with a simulated vault of gold. Real-time physics and multi-user tracking transform wealth into spectacle.

Financial Tellers

AI-rendered fortune tellers combining machine learning, voice recognition, and stylized animation. Guests ask questions naturally, triggering dynamic responses synchronized with lighting, sound, and character performance.

NYSE Photo Experience

A simplified market simulation where guests trigger outcomes by ringing a physical NYSE bell. Randomized logic and large-scale animation create a fast, visual expression of market volatility.

Interest Invaders

A retro-inspired arcade game built in Unity, powered by a custom compound interest simulation engine. Physical controls and real-time feedback turn long-term financial growth into something instantly visible and intuitive.

Design Your Own Currency

A full-stack interactive system combining local AI rendering, real-time visualization, and digital distribution. Guests create custom currency featuring their own likeness, processed on-device and delivered instantly as a shareable asset.

The Impact

Since the launch of the experience, MoMoney has had huge success among users. With over 400+ reviews on Google averaging at a 4.8 across the board, it continues to bring in positive feedback daily.

Beyond the metrics, the true impact is how the space transformed guest behavior. By replacing passive reading with tactile play, the exhibits successfully broke down complex financial concepts for visitors of all ages. The client reported significantly higher dwell times across all six installations. This proved that people were staying to engage and learn by doing rather than just passing through. The seamless blend of our digital interfaces with the physical environment created an approachable space that continues to resonate with the community.
