The Forge®
B2B Immersive Experience
Overview:

The Forge® is a tech-forward immersive experience center in Washington, DC, designed to support learning, collaboration, and decision-making for federal agencies. The space translates emerging technologies into tangible, confidence-building experiences while operating within strict security and compliance requirements. Through interactive technology and user-centered design, The Forge® redefined how Accenture Federal Services engages with clients.

The experience was structured as a clear progression through welcome, immerse, experiment, discuss, and connect. Built to guide visitors from discovery to actionable next steps that could be carried back into their organizations.

The Challenge

Federal agencies often struggle to understand and adopt emerging technologies. These technical topics usually feel too abstract or intimidating. They are also heavily restricted by strict security and compliance rules. The challenge was to completely rethink how Accenture Federal Services engages with these clients. We needed to move away from dry presentations and boring slide decks. The goal was to build a secure space that translates complex tech into clear, confidence building experiences.

The Approach

We designed a tech forward experience center structured around a five step progression. Visitors move intentionally through welcome, immerse, experiment, discuss, and connect zones. The core of this journey happens in the Control Room. We built a 270 degree display and an object recognition touch table to power real time simulations. This setup lets users run choose your own adventure scenarios to see how data and AI change outcomes. By keeping the technology highly interactive, we created a space that guides clients from discovery to actionable next steps.

The Control Room

The Control Room expereice of the Forge was my main focus as the lead designer on this project. It features a 270 degree video display and a custom touch table that uses object recognition. The experience is a scenario based simulation inspired by systems built for the U.S. Navy. It uses a choose your own adventure format to show how data and AI change outcomes through cause and effect.

My job was to make this massive amount of data easy to understand and exciting to engaging with. The goal was to spark client curiosity and show the real business value of Accenture’s technology. By making the products approachable, we made it easier for the sales team to close deals with federal agencies.

Guests place physical blocks on the table to change variables like sensors or AI models. I worked closely with our engineers to test the tracking and eliminate latency. Together we turned a complex military framework into a clear and engaging experience.

My Role

As the lead designer for the Control Room, I oversaw the UX reseach/flows, interaction & visual design for the simulation space. I worked closely with our developers, hardware engineers, and producers to make sure our digital solutions were both engaging and secure by:

Designing the 270 Degree Layout:

We had to figure out how to display massive amounts of information across a massive room wrapper. I designed the visual hierarchy so that actions taken at the central table immediately pushed clear, easy to read feedback onto the surrounding walls.

Object Recognition UX:

Our team focused on making abstract data feel highly tactile. I mapped out the interaction flows for the custom touch table, designing how physical tokens representing variables like AI models or sensors would interact with the digital UI.

Building the Simulation Identity:

I built the complete interface system and dashboard layouts in Figma. We kept the development team involved early to make sure all data visualizations were clear, accurate, and optimized for real time rendering in Unity.

Unity and Hardware Integration:

I partnered directly with our engineers to bridge the gap between design and code. We spent a lot of time prototyping and troubleshooting together to make sure the table tracking was incredibly precise and free of lag.

Client Focused Alignment:

We collaborated closely with internal stakeholders to align the interface with the overall client journey. The design had to guide users through the experiment phase, turning a military grade framework into a confidence building tool.
